It is hard to describe the last days in Peru. The team is tired. Yes, we are simultaneously tired from working and playing hard.....none of us would ever be accused of not living life to the fullest. We are working to finish up patient's prostheses, trying hard to leave no one undone.
This year went amazingly efficiently. We fit 67 devices to 65 patients. We were able to get most patient up by Wednesday and by Friday everyone was fit 2x. This is amazing and comforting by our own standards.
As we roam about Carrion hospital's PT gyms attending to patient's needs, we are constantly being pulled in a multitude of directions....photo por favor....un photo... can you look at _____, ...or ______ needs, has a problem with _______. Fortunately, this year our team approach helped out tremendously. All patients were assigned to specific Prosthetists and Physical Therapists. Viva equipa azul!!!
On Friday after an amazing breakfast and finalizing patient adjustments, the hospital puts on a little recognition ceremony. People give speeches and recognize contributions from everyone involved. It is often very touching and heart warming.....nary a dry eye in the room by the end, which the slowly erupts into a dance party. By the end there are endless pictures, hugs.
It is simply an amazing thing to be able to Dream and to Work with these Peruvians; to join together and make the world the way we see it; the way it should be.

jonathan surco quispe : al dia siguiente me levanto muy temprano hacer deporte nadar 2 kilometros me hace pensar mucho debajo del agua y con la sola idea de que ya no estan me pone triste , esta semana fue espectacular , los extrañe mucho pero a la vez no tuve el valor de despedirme , soy muy sentimental , aveces pienso en ustedes y de como estaran ? aveces pienso que todo esto es un sueño pero luego me doy cuenta que es real y le doy gracias a Dios por cada uno de ustedes , son un gran equipo , ayudaron a mas de 100 personas entre nuevos y antiguos pacientes , en lo personal les doy infinitas gracias por todo , cada uno se lleva un pedacito de mi corazon con ustedes , ahora solo es seguir esforzandose para poder salir adelante y que ustedes se sientan orgullosos de nosotros , por estudiar y tener un trabajo y mantener a nuestra familia , los quiero mucho , los llevo siempre en mi corazon , ustedes son tan peruanos como macchupicchu o el ceviche porque ustedes nos aman tal y como somos , nos dan su tiempo y espacio , porque ven en nosotros esperanza y eso es amor , todo ser humano se siente contento y ahora despues de no haber caminado por 2 años se siente genial , y es mi complemento , solo deseo que se cuiden y que Dios les de mucha salud , saludo especial para ti pablo , eres el amigo que todo ser humando quisiera tener , un abrazo a todo su equipo , por mi parte ideare mas cosas para apoyar a esta gran mision :) nos vemos .
